This image of pipes in a ‘Jefferies Tube’ (taken from a DS9 episode featuring the original Enterprise) features the acronym GNDN, printed on the pipes on the bottom left.
GNDN was deliberately put on the pipes by the props department and stood for ‘Goes Nowhere, Does Nothing.’
It’s far too small to read on a TV screen, until modern TV and DVD made a whole range of Easter eggs available.
My point is this: how awesome would it be to work on a TV show props department? Wouldn’t that be the best job? So much fun.
