Bashir has the sweetest, dorkiest smile, and I love him.
My question is does Garak see this as an improvement over the more typical uniform or is Bashir not allowed to be in Garak’s presence if he insists on wearing that.
I’d have drawn Garak too, were he in Starfleet! Though I think since Garak despairs of even the regular uniforms, these would warrant a similar opinion.
I figured I’d draw everyone who is actually in Starfleet in these eventually, partly because Worf and Sisko in these, but also because I’d enjoy the contrast with Kira and Odo.
…omg, Nog.
I’d like to avoid making them a joke in and of themselves, though, so maybe a full-cast photo is important eventually. Like, yeah, we can’t avoid finding them odd and humorous as a collective - I couldn’t get over the shape on Bashir when I was drawing them - and Garak finding them worthy of an eyebrow raise is interesting (though so is him finding them rather fetching!) but I’d like to envision that we’ve gotten over ‘hee hee, man in a dress’ in a few hundred years.
For my science fiction blog, Loving the Alien. You can read it properly formatted there.
And before I begin, let me say, let no one accuse of me hate. I’ve seen DS9 a gazillion times, and wrote my Master’s dissertation on it. I just love to take the piss out of things I love.

Every Star Trek needs a ladies’ man, right? TOS had Kirk, TNG sort of had Riker (though I think they may have made it Picard mid-series, and that sort of disturbs me), ENT had Tripp, and DS9 had …
it had… well….
Sisko? No. O’Brien? No, unless leading on clueless Cardassians count… Worf? Noooo. Odo? As much as I imagine he’d be great in bed… no. Is it.. really…
It can’t be…
Bashir?

flolz, garak’s face in the second image
This was part of what I really loved about this episode. Once you get over Garak busting in on Bashir’s business and privacy invading, this entire thing is just Garak being taken on an absolutely baffling Fantasy Disney Land version of his job (with mortal peril, because Star Trek) and realizing that Bashir’s favorite hobbies are pretending that he’s a glorified fictional version of what Garak does - and what has made Garak’s life suck incredibly hard.
This line is cute and funny and then the rest of the episode builds to Garak finally exploding about how pointless and dumb everything is in the context of trying to save lives, but I can’t help but think it isn't escalated slightly by how frivolous he can see the game is when it’s not life or death. He doesn’t actively want the crew to die, but he also doesn’t want to die in Bashir’s stupid facsimile of his life either and his life > everyone else’s.
And then of course Bashir shoots him and he’s totally over it all, “Yay, lead on and I shall follow omg he shot me hottest thing ever i think we’re engaged,” but watching him go through this episode with increasing displeasure ranging from ‘I am mildly bitter’ to 'FUCK YOU AND STARFLEET’ at the whole thing is really one of the reasons I find it so entertaining. Also tuxes.

i feel terrible for enjoying this so much when Garak is definitely in the wrong here for busting in on Bashir’s program, and I would be cracking skulls if I were Bashir, but jeez I enjoy it anyway

flesh wound
Pleased I am not the only person who saw this scene and thought, ‘damn, Garak thought getting shot was kind of hot once he lived through it’
Garak responds to this event in A Stitch In Time by sighing fondly over it at Quark’s and calling it 'magnificent.’
Just saying.

“Out of all the stories you told me, which ones were true and which ones weren’t? ”
“My dear Doctor…they’re all true. ”
“Even the lies?”
“Especially the lies.”I love how all the light is really blown out here. Cardassians do prefer lower light levels, so this must be how Garak sees the Station
As much as I love them, it’s nice to see more than the usual scenes (handholding, the ‘especially the lies’ one, etc)! That one of Garak looking up to the left and the one of Bashir from the back where you can see his eyelashes are really beautiful.
