Did some overpainting on this BMR1959 doll whose face has been bothering me since I got her. Her lips looked like her tongue was escaping between them because of the color and texture and I found it hard to look at her eyes because of the way that light caught said texture. I feel like I enjoy her look a lot more now that I can focus on her eyes.
That UV printing garbage at Mattel has got to go, holy shit.
My doll of my character Xel is going well, I’m so excited. My friend and I had a party with dolls and pizza last night and she made this first template of Xel’s bodysuit. I’m just so pleased with how they’re coming along so here’s a scroll through where they’ve been.

Before and mostly after of my DollZone Tarot The Moon doll!
She was purchased as you see her on the left and months and months of cleaning and sealing and painting have brought us to the right.
The gold inside her ribs was intended to mimic the rays coming from the Moon traditional of a The Moon tarot card, but since the inside is curved it looks somewhat like they are trying to be her ribs in photos and that was not what I was going for so we may do some adjustments in there.
But for now just so glad she’s in one piece and able to be enjoyed! I still need to name her.

I kind of want to go in and do some proper hair garbage and get her more waves and curls, especially want to find some ribbons, but I’m pleased she’s bright and clean. :)
Also feels much nicer to touch!
There’s a lot of tiny shit still happening in this image, with a lot of adjustments to make still, but I spent a long time giving some love to this image from the family photo stash, so you can look at the deceptively undramatic comparison. This image is one of my favorites, although I don’t know who the people in it are. I have some clues as to where I could go in family tree to find out, but it will still be a good bit of digging. This is one of the glass negatives, so it feels extra special.
I want to do some actual drawing though, so I’m stopping on the obsessive texture fixing for now

A sculpt I had a lot of interest in poking around with because of it being used so dramatically poorly both times they rolled it out. There was much to make her look super off-putting either like she was a serial killer telling someone to smile at gunpoint or she was the person being told to smile. I hope I’ve eliminated both of those options at least, even if I’m not totally sure I’ve eliminated off putting.
She’ll need to become some kinda space person dressed completely in lamé, I think. Her pink and purple freckles with sparkle bits demand it. Her hair has selective gravity and I’m finding it challenging to arrange in a not terrible manner so this may also be a sign.
We’ll see where she goes.

This is Tressie, she’s Kaye’s mother, so my Great Great Grandmother! It was a picture of her that started me in on all these old photos:
So it’s neat to have another one of her from later in her life. Her colors were hard to fight with, but it’s a satisfying difference.
My Great Great Great Grandparents George and Elizabeth Carrie (or Carrie Elizabeth, I’ve seen it as both!). And my Great Great Grandmother’s sister. This image has a lot of fine scratching overall, but I think we got some good cleaning and clarity in general.
