At this very moment, nothing, because it’s been ages since I used a sewing machine, and even when I did use one, I was not doing it properly. So I’m mostly getting myself used to doing things, BUT once I do that, then fix several pairs of old pajama pants that don’t need to look nice, and fix one shirt that does need to look nice, I’m making some plush dolls. They may be of the baby bean bag variety.
I’ve made a few plushes before by hand, but the process takes a long time and I’m the opposite of precise. I also never really bothered to learn a variety of stitches. (I was not taught to sew in school. I was instead taught to make cookies from a box. So this was all self-motivated sewing.) So I planned to use the machine in order to compensate for my inconsistent stitching, and for me to get to interesting check points in the process sooner, thus ensuring I will actually continue doing the project because some kind of reward is being given.
It’s like exploiting the weaknesses in my brain/attention span.
Luckily, I want the end result of the project very much, and it’s been a very motivating force to do all this fussing I’ve had to do to get the machine to work at all. It looks like it was dropped or jostled around a lot in the mail when I had to move, so there are some things that are a little wonky, and I need to replace the lightbulb, but other than that, so far, so good.
