My DollZone Tarot Series The Moon 🌙☄

I wanted to keep that she had been part of a Tarot series as part of her look. I gave her a lot of mottling while thinking about craters and the way the Moon looks in general and gave her the moon on her chest and the beams in her ribs as a call to the traditional look of the card. Going to have to clarify those a little. But I Incorporated a lot of teal and purple in addition to the expected shades of red for the bits of injury on her. I wanted her to still look nice in the original presentation box, which is mostly what she’s photographed against here. Lots of freckles and dots and specks and all that good stuff. So much shiny iridescent crap haha

I hope you guys like the result of her like I do!

Hey, look who has her new look~☆

Before and mostly after of my DollZone Tarot The Moon doll!

She was purchased as you see her on the left and months and months of cleaning and sealing and painting have brought us to the right.

The gold inside her ribs was intended to mimic the rays coming from the Moon traditional of a The Moon tarot card, but since the inside is curved it looks somewhat like they are trying to be her ribs in photos and that was not what I was going for so we may do some adjustments in there.

But for now just so glad she’s in one piece and able to be enjoyed! I still need to name her.

Here’s the DollZone The Moon project and her staining/ near unreachable scrapes and crevices adventure. It’s actually does represent yet more progress in removal of material but it’s not very dramatic for photos so I wanted to instead focus on all of the tiny scratchy textured areas stuck containing pigment that you probably can’t appreciate from my prior photo posts.

Cleaned up the long trailing spine very well last night. Not pictured here, but I’m excited it looks so much cleaner. It had a very obvious repair spot on it that has been reduced significantly.

Got some tiny shreds of paint out of the creases on her fingers and wore down a good bit of the built-up paint and sealant between two of said fingers that has joined them like webbing. May go in again today with some extremely cautious sanding.

I’m anxious for her to be a whole doll again. I think she’ll be beautiful and I’m not even confident on what her new look will BE, she’s just got me feeling very positive about her future.

Managed to get into some of the peskier craters on The Moon.

Got more out of her face as well, though I don’t know how noticeable it is to people who aren’t looking at it in real life and who aren’t limited to the shity pictures that I always end up taking after the sun goes down

That’s one before, one after-ish, and another after-ish up under the lip a little. I got rid of some of the pigment in her mouth and most of the stuff left in her nostrils. This single Gray Line in the crease of her eyelid is really being a pain also.

I don’t know that I would have ever truly appreciated how small and delicate and lovely the sculpting was however if I did not have to try to clean every little cranny of it. That she has space that is so tiny between her upper lip and her teeth is just incredible.

Anyway, today’s inching away at doll fixing was brought to you by my randomly Israeli toothpicks.

I did not take anything resembling a good before photo because I didn’t know I was going to do this until I was doing it, but I slightly edited Alice’s face paint after removing her glitter and giving her long striped socks (from @dollsahoy !)

I want to give her some kind of petticoat situation so that it puffs out her skirt properly, but it turns out I have no garbage tulle or other suitable crunchy puffy stuff in all of the strange fabric that I have hoarded. I feel like everyone has garbage tulle, so I don’t know how this is possible.

I do have some very thick black lace ribbon, though. So I might pretend I know what I’m doing with some stiff black instead of white. We will see. I always enjoy sewing more once I’ve sat down and gotten into it but for some reason it’s always like either I am developing my own pattern and making an entire elaborate plush toy and doing nothing else but that for a straight 8 hours every day in some kind of fever or I am sewing a single line and then feeling utterly done.

Good luck on that petticoat, Alice.

I needed something to keep my hands busy and to shut my brain up so I sloppily repainted this Pinkie Pie’s shoes. The sprinkles are molded on and they painted that ugly ass heart on there instead.

I’m notorious for fucking hating hearts on stuff but I think even if I didn’t I would say it was an ugly choice especially given the molded fucking sprinkles.

I think I might want to add more black to the soles just because there’s so much black in her necklace, and this is definitely not a careful or professional job by any means, but it served its purpose of ‘just fucking do something, shut up brain, we are not Doing this today, let’s just go slightly improve something with our hands’.

She also looks nicer at a glance now haha
